Lacrosse Cup taking shape

14 Dec, 2011 11:15 AM
PREPARATIONS are under way for an annual interschool Lacrosse Cup in the south-west.

Timboon P-12 School physical education teacher Kane Horwill said Lacrosse Victoria would run the annual South West Victorian Lacrosse Cup in term four each year.

Primary and secondary schools can field male and female teams, with players from eight years of age and up.

Horwill said any schools interested in participating in the annual event should email him at horwill.kane.r@edumail.vic.gov.au

Groundwork for the competition was laid this month with come ‘n’ try days in Warrnambool and Timboon led by a team of four, including former Australian lacrosse team captain Tim Fry.

The day at the Warrnambool hockey grounds involved 400 pupils from the West Warrnambool, Grassmere, Warrnambool, East Warrnambool and Allansford primary schools.

Organisers thanked the Warrnambool Hockey Association for providing their grounds and services for the day.

Another come ‘n’ try day at Timboon this month involved more than 200 pupils. Horwill said feedback from those involved in the day was overwhelmingly positive.
